What I Have Become Proficient In.

Image
source: https://medium.com/@zeolearn/roadmap-for-learning-html-and-css-ce6be69095b1 a.    What are the learning/discoveries that I have gained? I have learned how web pages are designed, structured, and presented with HTML mark-up and CSS exercises. adding tags, images, and links to bring our web pages to life.   Each lesson in HTML creates a self-guided experience for us students through a series of scaffolded tasks. Lessons always begin with an  Introduction  to the concept as the first step. b.    What are the problems/challenges that I have encountered? For me it’s basically organization: Organization of files… Keeping things organized for a small site is easy but for a theme where we can add the sky and more and it can get extremelly complex. c.     How did I address these challenges? Because in a complex site, you don’t say I’m targetting a H1 element, you really use classes in case they want the H1 in red, or like this or like tha...

Christmas of Bigueños is like no other than the rest.

Image
I'm an Igorot and Christmas in Vigan is like no other than the rest of others, It is filled with celebrations and customs. Us Igorots Christmas means lights, music, feasts, and time spent with family and friends, same with Bigueños. We know how to celebrate this season, full of joy and love. How we celebrate our Christmas in Vigan is the same on how the Philippines celebrate it. We are known for our love for music and because it is the holidays, popular songs and carols are a Christmas staple. Allow me to share with you, how Christmas is celebrated and how you can make the most out of it. First is Caroling, it is a popular Christmas tradition, carolers are normally groups of kids who travel from house to house at night and they sing their favorite Christmas carols and use their musical instruments like tambourines and maraccas made with tins or soft drink caps, some famous Christmas songs are Sa Aming Bahay Ang Aming Bati, Mano Po Ninong, Ang Pasko Ay Sumapit, Jingle Bells, and mor...

Christmas In The New Normal.

Image
http://vigancity.gov.ph/its-christmas-season-in-vigan-city/   Vigan City celebrates the Feast of the  Conversion of Saint Paul and its Annual City Fiesta  under the new normal. It has been a very difficult journey for every Biqueño here. And around the globe to live in a time of a global pandemic. The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic are still being felt globally and in our community's way of life, celebrations, and festivities. If we may learn anything from Saint Paul the Apostle, Vigan's patron saint, it is his bravery and faith in overcoming life's difficulties and his perseverance in spreading the word of God to serve thousands of people. For the bravery and faith of every Bigueno around the globe in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, we stand with you.  For the commitment and perseverance of every Bigueño in making Vigan a safe home for everyone, we applaud you. And as we celebrate the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul and our City Fiesta, may we all be remind...

Everyday is a New Beginning.

You are not cheating yourself, because this attitude, if you persevere with it, would make you a more positive and happy person. Every day, restate your goals and your decisions for your new, happy and successful life and at the same time, be open to new ideas and opportunities, and for ways to achieve your goals.             People quite soon, lose the motivation and enthusiasm, and continue living the same kind of life, without doing anything to improve them and this is why you need to make resolutions and repeat them every day, It is not enough to state them just once, when the New Year begins, It would be a good idea to write them down on a clean sheet o...

How does one celebrate Christmas this year amidst the COVID-19 pandemic?

Image
This would probably be one in contemporary history when we are encouraged to celebrate the Christmas season in its essence, in its simplicity. With a focus on the Covid virus, we are preoccupied with guidelines on how to celebrate Christmas this year, with only members of the family who are living in the same household, to continue wearing masks, observe social distancing, or to wash hands frequently.  We are being discouraged from visiting one another for our mutual protection and safety.     The usual Christmas glee and merriment that we have been accustomed to is not possible this year.        But our celebration of Christmas should not be dampened by Covid! Let us spread more hope, peace, joy and love this Season and this is where I am reminded of the birth of our Savior.  The Christmas story is one of simplicity. Our Lord and Savior was born in a manger with only his mother and father, his guests were a sh...

Covid-19 impact on children.

Image
The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic  is of a scale most people alive today have never seen. Worldwide, the outbreak is claiming lives and livelihoods as health systems buckle, education is disrupted and families struggle to stay afloat. Communities across the globe are rising to the  challenge, from health and social workers risking their lives to protect the most vulnerable, to young people deploying innovative ways to share public health  messages. Yet, even as the spread of the virus slows in  some countries, its social toll has come fast  and hard. And in many places, it comes at the  expense of the most marginalized children.           Children are significantly impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. This brief aims to capture some key issues and propose early steps that governments can take to mitigate negative consequences for children, especially the most vulnerable. maln...

Are we living in a harmony with nature?

Image
Our planet is our home, the place that sustains us; but are we living in harmony with nature? It seems like we humans have embraced a path of self-destruction, destroying the very home that shelters us. From rising carbon emissions, to deforestation and land degradation, anthropogenic activities are having detrimental effects on our ecosystems and environmental biodiversity. We are in the final period of this crucial decade, and despite several strategic plans and initiatives to mobilize people at different levels, we are miles behind in seizing the stipulated targets. The negative trends in biodiversity and ecosystems conservation, indicate that we need to do a lot more.       Sometimes we feel impotent and ineffectual, unable to take manoeuvre, or do things that really matter to us, since governments and large corporations are the ones taking vital decisions. While major changes are only possible if countries and corporations alter their policies and actions. I t...
